Forward formula: % = CGPA × 10Source: Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) Ordinances and Regulations (For the UG - B. Com. Com. 7 (VIII), Table 8 illustration: 'Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) = 34.63 / 6 = 5.77 ... CGPA X 10 = Percentage e.g. 5.77 X 10 = 57.7%'Status: verifiedLast verified: 2026-10-06
This reverses the official CGPA→% formula. A percentage on a transcript is the authoritative figure; the back-calculated CGPA is an estimate. Always confirm with your college.

Converting Gujarat University (GU), Ahmedabad percentage back to CGPA

Gujarat University (GU), Ahmedabad (Gujarat) officially converts CGPA to percentage with % = CGPA × 10. This page inverts that formula so you can estimate the CGPA behind a known percentage. Enter your percentage above and the calculator solves for the CGPA on the 10-point scale.

Worked example

The official Gujarat University (GU), Ahmedabad formula is % = CGPA × 10. Starting from a percentage of 57.7%, the formula reverses to a CGPA of about 5.77 on the 10-point scale. You can check this by running 5.77 through the forward Gujarat University (GU), Ahmedabad CGPA to percentage calculator — it returns 57.7%, confirming the two directions agree.

Why this is an estimate, not an official figure

A college issues your percentage from your actual CGPA, not the other way around — so reversing the formula recovers the CGPA that would produce that percentage. When both numbers appear on your grade card, always quote the official CGPA rather than this estimate.

Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) Ordinances and Regulations (For the UG - B. Com. Program), Gujarat University, Ahmedabad-380009, for candidates admitted from 2011-2012 onwards; R. B. The ×10 rule is printed verbatim, with a worked example, in GU's own CBCS B.Com. ordinance (2011). The same ordinance's final-result table (R. B. Com. 4) pairs CGPA 8.5-10 with 'Above 85' %, 6.0-6.99 with 60-69.99 % etc., consistent with ×10 (one row contains a printing slip '7.0-84.99'). Pass mark under that scheme was 36% / CGPA 3.6. For NEP-2020 FYUG students (2023-24 onwards) no conversion rule was found; the NEP grade bands are offset (P=4 starts at 37%), so ×10 should not be assumed for them. GU's Controller of Examinations certified on 03/07/2025 that its marks statement shows SGPA, CGPA and marks, that 'The total marks and marks obtained are also indicated for purpose of calculation of percentage', and that 'no separate Percentage or Backlog certificate is needed to be issued by the Gujarat University' — so for any programme or batch not covered by the B.Com. ordinance above (including NEP-2020 batches), your percentage is marks obtained ÷ total marks × 100 from the marksheet. Not to be confused with Gujarat Technological University (GTU), which has its own formula. Only the B.Com. ordinance could be read; the B.A./B.Sc. ordinance PDFs on gujaratuniversity.org.in failed to fetch.
