This reverses the official CGPA→% formula. A percentage on a transcript is the authoritative figure; the back-calculated CGPA is an estimate. Always confirm with your college.

Converting Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) percentage back to CGPA

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) (Delhi) officially converts CGPA to percentage with % = CGPA × 10 (notional). This page inverts that formula so you can estimate the CGPA behind a known percentage. Enter your percentage above and the calculator solves for the CGPA on the 10-point scale.

Worked example

The official Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) formula is % = CGPA × 10 (notional). Starting from a percentage of 85%, the formula reverses to a CGPA of about 8.5 on the 10-point scale. You can check this by running 8.5 through the forward Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) CGPA to percentage calculator — it returns 85%, confirming the two directions agree.

Why this is an estimate, not an official figure

A college issues your percentage from your actual CGPA, not the other way around — so reversing the formula recovers the CGPA that would produce that percentage. When both numbers appear on your grade card, always quote the official CGPA rather than this estimate.

IIT Delhi awards no percentage or division; the certificate lets the CGPA be notionally converted by multiplying by 10, applied to all graduates (retrospectively from 18.10.1982 per the certificate). The same certificate states a CGPA of 6.0 or above be taken as First Class for employment and external-body purposes. Same notional ×10 stance as the other IITs.
