Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH)
percentage to CGPA

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) — % → CGPA

Forward formula: % = (CGPA − 0.5) × 10Source: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad — B.Tech Academic Regulations R18 (w.e.f. AY 2018-19), §11.2: '% of Marks = (final CGPA − 0.5) × 10'; identical clause in Academic Regulations R16 (w.e.f. AY 2016-17), §11.2; read with §12 award-of-class CGPA thresholdsStatus: verifiedLast verified: 2026-06-23 · JNTUH's B.Tech academic regulations convert the final CGPA to a percentage as % of Marks = (final CGPA − 0.5) × 10 (CGPA 7.0 → 65%). This same clause (§11.2) appears in both the R18 (2018-19 onwards) and R16 (2016-17 onwards) regulations. It is consistent with JNTUH's §12 award-of-class CGPA thresholds — First Class with Distinction ≥ 8.00, First Class ≥ 6.50 (= 60%), Second Class ≥ 5.50 (= 50%), Pass Class ≥ 5.00 — and the absolute 10-point grade table (O ≥ 90 = 10, A+ 80–90 = 9, A 70–80 = 8, B+ 60–70 = 7, B 50–60 = 6, C 40–50 = 5, F < 40 = 0). IMPORTANT: JNTUH uses a −0.5 offset, which is DIFFERENT from its sibling JNTU Kakinada (JNTUK), whose regulations use (CGPA − 0.75) × 10. The two differ by 2.5 percentage points at every CGPA, so the correct university must be used. JNTU Anantapur (JNTUA) publishes its own regulations and should be checked separately.
This reverses the official CGPA→% formula. A percentage on a transcript is the authoritative figure; the back-calculated CGPA is an estimate. Always confirm with your university.

Converting Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) percentage back to CGPA

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) (Telangana) officially converts CGPA to percentage with % = (CGPA − 0.5) × 10. This page inverts that formula so you can estimate the CGPA behind a known percentage — useful when a scholarship form, job portal or foreign application asks for CGPA but your marksheet only shows a percentage. Enter your percentage above and the calculator solves for the CGPA on the 10-point scale.

Worked example

The official Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) formula is % = (CGPA − 0.5) × 10. To go the other way, you rearrange it to solve for CGPA. Starting from a percentage of 65%, the formula reverses to a CGPA of about 7 on the 10-point scale. You can check this by running 7 through the forward Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) CGPA to percentage calculator — it returns 65%, confirming the two directions agree.

Why this is an estimate, not an official figure

A university issues your percentage from your actual CGPA, not the other way around — so reversing the formula recovers the CGPA that would produce that percentage. It matches in almost every case, but rounding on your transcript (for example a percentage printed to one decimal place) can shift the back-calculated CGPA slightly. When both numbers appear on your grade card, always quote the official CGPA rather than this estimate.
