Kolhapur Institute of Technology's College of Engineering (KIT), Gokul Shirgaon, Kolhapur (Maharashtra) officially converts CGPA to percentage with % = (CGPI − 0.5) × 10. This page inverts that formula so you can estimate the CGPA behind a known percentage. Enter your percentage above and the calculator solves for the CGPA on the 10-point scale.

Worked example

The official Kolhapur Institute of Technology's College of Engineering (KIT), Gokul Shirgaon, Kolhapur formula is % = (CGPI − 0.5) × 10. Starting from a percentage of 75%, the formula reverses to a CGPA of about 8 on the 10-point scale. You can check this by running 8 through the forward Kolhapur Institute of Technology's College of Engineering (KIT), Gokul Shirgaon, Kolhapur CGPA to percentage calculator — it returns 75%, confirming the two directions agree.

Why this is an estimate, not an official figure

KIT's College of Engineering (Autonomous), Kolhapur — Examination Rules and Regulations, in force from 2021-22: “conversion of CGPI to equivalent percentage shall be provided on the back page of the grade card (Equivalent % = (CGPI-0.5)*10)”.

KIT's College of Engineering is an autonomous institute permanently affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur, autonomous from A.Y. 2017-18 (UGC Status List as on 27.08.2024, entry #556; current window 2023-24 to 2032-33). NOTE THE TERMINOLOGY: KIT uses CGPI (Cumulative Grade Point Index), not CGPA — the same quantity under a different name. TWO CONVERSIONS APPEAR IN THE SAME DOCUMENT AND THEY DO NOT FULLY AGREE — THIS RECORD IS HELD AT "verify" UNTIL THE INSTITUTE CONFIRMS WHICH GOVERNS. (1) A LINEAR FORMULA, section 12.3: Equivalent % = (CGPI − 0.5) × 10, stated as what is printed on the back of the grade card. (2) A STEP TABLE, section 11.2, introduced as "The final CGPI is converted into equivalent percentage for students as per following table": up to 4.50 gives 40%; 4.51-5.00 gives 45%; 5.01-5.50 gives 50%; 5.51-6.00 gives 55%; 6.01-6.50 gives 60%; 6.51-7.00 gives 65%; 7.01-7.50 gives 70%; 7.51-8.00 gives 75%; 8.01-8.50 gives 80%; 8.51-9.00 gives 85%; 9.01-9.50 gives 90%; 9.51-10.00 gives 95%. HOW THEY RELATE: the table is the linear formula evaluated at each band CEILING, so the two agree exactly at 4.5, 5.0, 5.5 and every other band top, but diverge inside a band — and the table is always the more generous. A CGPI of 7.6 gives 71% by formula but 75% by table, a four-point gap; 8.2 gives 77% by formula but 80% by table. CHECK THE BACK OF YOUR OWN GRADE CARD, which the regulations say carries the conversion, and treat the table as the likely operative rule for the FINAL CGPI since that is how section 11.2 introduces it. GRADING IS RELATIVE for any course with 20 or more registered students, using mean and standard deviation thresholds moderated by a Grade Moderation Committee to a bell-shaped distribution; absolute grading applies only where fewer than 20 register. Grade points: A+ 10, A 9, B+ 8, B 7, C+ 6, C 5, D 4 (minimum pass), F1/F2/F3 zero. Assessment is ISE-I 10%, MSE 30%, ISE-II 10%, ESE 50%. Degree requires CGPI at least 5.0 and is awarded by Shivaji University. Students admitted up to A.Y. 2016-17 sat Shivaji University examinations instead.
