Converting Shaheed Mahendra Karma Vishwavidyalaya (formerly Bastar Vishwavidyalaya), Jagdalpur percentage back to CGPA
Shaheed Mahendra Karma Vishwavidyalaya (formerly Bastar Vishwavidyalaya), Jagdalpur (Chhattisgarh) officially converts CGPA to percentage with % = CGPA × 10 (NEP FYUP UG — FYUP ordinance, cl. 12). This page inverts that formula so you can estimate the CGPA behind a known percentage. Enter your percentage above and the calculator solves for the CGPA on the 10-point scale.
Worked example
The official Shaheed Mahendra Karma Vishwavidyalaya (formerly Bastar Vishwavidyalaya), Jagdalpur formula is % = CGPA × 10 (NEP FYUP UG — FYUP ordinance, cl. 12). Starting from a percentage of 75%, the formula reverses to a CGPA of about 7.5 on the 10-point scale. You can check this by running 7.5 through the forward Shaheed Mahendra Karma Vishwavidyalaya (formerly Bastar Vishwavidyalaya), Jagdalpur CGPA to percentage calculator — it returns 75%, confirming the two directions agree.
Why this is an estimate, not an official figure
A college issues your percentage from your actual CGPA, not the other way around — so reversing the formula recovers the CGPA that would produce that percentage. When both numbers appear on your grade card, always quote the official CGPA rather than this estimate.
Source & verification
Shaheed Mahendra Karma Vishwavidyalaya — 'Ordinance for FYUP NEP 2020', posted on the University's NEP 2020 admission page, headed 'ANNEXURE-02 Draft Ordinance <Ordinance No.> for Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) (With Choice Based Credit System and Multiple Entry and Exit Options as per NEP 2020)', cl. 12 'Conversion to Percentage' (p. 8): 'The conversion formula for converting the CGPA to the corresponding percentage (P) of marks will be as follows: P = 10 x CGPA.'
Grades are absolute bands (>90–100 = O 10; >80–90 = A+ 9; >70–80 = A 8; >60–70 = B+ 7; >50–60 = B 6; >40–50 = C 5; 40 = P 4; <40 = F), so CGPA × 10 is the ordinance's stated equivalence, not an exact marks average. Divisions: First with Distinction CGPA ≥ 7.50; First ≥ 6.00 and < 7.50; Second ≥ 4.50 and < 6.00; Third ≥ 4.00 and < 4.50; a pass needs CGPA ≥ 4.0. SCOPE: NEP 2020 four-year UG programmes (B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., B.Sc. Home Science, BCA, BBA etc.) in the teaching departments and affiliated colleges. Pre-NEP annual and semester courses are marks-based, so use the percentage on those marksheets. PG conversion was not read. The same clause appears in the FYUP ordinances of other Chhattisgarh state universities (ABVV, Durg, KTUJM), which follow a common state template. CAVEAT: the file the University posts as its FYUP ordinance is the state template itself, headed 'Draft Ordinance <Ordinance No.>' with no ordinance number filled in. The University's numbered ordinance bundles on its Ordinances page predate NEP (May 2023). The clause is identical to the numbered, notified FYUP ordinances of PRSU (No. 210), ABVV (No. 159) and Durg (No. 205). bvvjdp.ac.in (on your sheet) is the old domain; smkvbastar.ac.in is current.
