Source & verification

SVPCET — Ordinances/Regulations for UG & PG Engineering Courses (B.Tech. & M.Tech.) 2023-24, Regulation R 23.2 (Grade Card); also R 14.2 (Equivalence and Absorption)

St. Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering & Technology is an autonomous institute affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, autonomous from A.Y. 2021-22 (UGC conferred 7 September 2021; UGC Status List as on 27.08.2024, entry #530, valid to 2030-31). Its own Ordinances state the conversion TWICE. Regulation R 23.2 (Grade Card): "Wherever required the conversion of CGPA to percentage of marks and percentage of marks to CGPA will be done using following formula. Percentage (%) = (CGPA-0.75)*10". Regulation R 14.2 (Equivalence and Absorption) gives both directions explicitly: "Grade Point Average = (x%/10) + 0.75" and "x = [(CGPA – 0.75)*10]". The reverse direction is therefore also officially published, which is unusual. ABSOLUTE GRADING on a 10-point scale (R 20.1), and note the grade bands DIFFER between theory and practical and between UG and PG. UG theory: A+ 10 at 90% and above; A 9 at 80-90%; B 8 at 70-80%; C 7 at 60-70%; D 6 at 50-60%; E 5 at 45-50%; F 0 below 45%. UG practical is stricter: A+ 10 requires 95% and above, A 9 at 90-95%, and F below 50%. PG theory and practical both fail below 50%. Passing needs grade point 5.00 or more for UG and 6.00 or more for PG. CLASS: Distinction requires CGPA 8.00 or above AND all courses passed at first appearance within the minimum period AND CGPA 8.00 or above at the end of every semester AND never detained — unusually strict, so a student with a final CGPA above 8.00 may still not hold Distinction. First Class 6.50 to below 8.00; Pass 5.00 to below 6.50 for UG and 6.00 to below 6.50 for PG. INCENTIVE GRADE POINTS: SVPCET adds Semester Incentive Grade Points to the SGPA for research, NCC, NSS, sports and cultural activity — up to 19 bonus grade points for international-level sports participation. A converted percentage may therefore reflect activity credits as well as examination performance. Honors and Minors credits are extra and excluded from the programme credit structure. Grade cards do not indicate class, division or rank. Degrees are awarded by RTMNU. Students admitted up to A.Y. 2020-21 sat RTMNU examinations, where RTMNU Direction No. 02 of 2021 gives CGPA × 10 instead.
