Converting West Bengal State University (WBSU), Barasat percentage back to CGPA
West Bengal State University (WBSU), Barasat (West Bengal) officially converts CGPA to percentage with PG (CBCS, 2019+): Peq = PL + (PUU − PU) × 0.y, where CGPA = X.y; PL = upper cut-off % of grade X, PU/PUU = lower/upper cut-off % of grade X+1 (Table II). E.g. 6.8 → 54 + 4×0.8 = 57.2%. This page inverts that formula so you can estimate the CGPA behind a known percentage. Enter your percentage above and the calculator solves for the CGPA on the 10-point scale.
Worked example
The official West Bengal State University (WBSU), Barasat formula is PG (CBCS, 2019+): Peq = PL + (PUU − PU) × 0.y, where CGPA = X.y; PL = upper cut-off % of grade X, PU/PUU = lower/upper cut-off % of grade X+1 (Table II). E.g. 6.8 → 54 + 4×0.8 = 57.2%. Starting from a percentage of 57.2%, the formula reverses to a CGPA of about 6.8 on the 10-point scale. You can check this by running 6.8 through the forward West Bengal State University (WBSU), Barasat CGPA to percentage calculator — it returns 57.2%, confirming the two directions agree.
Why this is an estimate, not an official figure
A college issues your percentage from your actual CGPA, not the other way around — so reversing the formula recovers the CGPA that would produce that percentage. When both numbers appear on your grade card, always quote the official CGPA rather than this estimate.

West Bengal State University, Draft Regulation for Post Graduate Examinations (under CBCS curriculum effective from July 2019), cl. 11.3: 'Let SGPA is X.y where X is the integer part and y the fractional part … PL = upper cutoff percentage of grade X, PU = lower cutoff percentage of grade X+1, PUU = upper cutoff percentage of grade X+1 … Then Equivalent Percentage is Peq=PL+ (PUU-PU)*0.y'. Example: 'For example for SGPA is 6.8: X=6, y=8, PL=54, PU=55, PUU=59, Peq=54+0.8*4=57.2'. Table II (Full Marks 100): O ≥80 =10; A+ 70–<80 =9; A 60–<70 =8; B+ 55–<60 =7; B 50–<55 =6; C 45–<50 =5; P 40–<45 =4; F <40.
WBSU's PG regulation uses a piecewise interpolation, not a multiplier. The integer part of the CGPA picks the grade band; the decimal part is spread across the width of the next band, starting from the top of the current band. Lookups (from Table II, integer cut-offs as in the official example): upper cut-offs 4→44, 5→49, 6→54, 7→59, 8→69, 9→79, 10→100; lower cut-offs 5→45, 6→50, 7→55, 8→60, 9→70, 10→80. Cross-check with cl. 11.5 (classification): CGPA 7.12 = first class (60%) → 59 + 9×0.12 = 60.08; CGPA 6.25 → 55%; CGPA 5.25 → 50% — all consistent. The function jumps at integer CGPAs (e.g. 6.99 → ~58.0, 7.00 → 59); the percentage-to-CGPA calculator inverts it exactly within each band and maps a percentage that falls in a gap between bands (e.g. 58.0–59.0) to the next whole CGPA. Ambiguities: grade 10's upper cut-off is taken as 100 (Table II only says M ≥ 80), which affects CGPAs 9.0–9.99; CGPA below 4 is undefined. The document is titled 'DRAFT' but is the one WBSU posts as its PG regulation. Does not apply to UG; UG students should use marks on their mark sheet.
