About Government College of Engineering & Ceramic Technology
One of the oldest technological colleges in Kolkata, established 3 April 1941 by Professor Sasadhar Ray as the Bengal Ceramic Institute Calcutta, later College of Ceramic Technology — the only full-fledged college in India offering a degree course in Ceramic Technology at the time. Transitioned to degree-level status in 1962 under the Higher Education Department, Government of West Bengal. Granted UGC autonomous status in 2012 (extended 2018-23), giving it freedom to frame its own UG/PG syllabi per AICTE guidelines. NAAC 'A' grade.
