percentage to CGPA

University of Calicut — % → CGPA

Forward formula: % = CGPA × 10Source: University of Calicut Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) Regulation, Clause 20 / Table-18 (Letter Grades, Grade Points and Percentage bands)Status: verifiedLast verified: 2026-06-23 · University of Calicut's FYUGP regulation uses a 10-point indirect (banded) grading system: each grade point corresponds to a percentage band (O=10 → 95%+, A+=9 → 85–95%, A=8 → 75–85%, B+=7 → 65–75%, B=6 → 55–65%, C=5 → 45–55%, P=4 → 35–45%). Each grade point sits at the band midpoint, so Percentage = CGPA × 10 holds across the scale (CGPA 8.5 → 85%) — except at the very top, where a perfect grade point of 10 maps to the 95–100% band rather than exactly 100%. B.Tech (Faculty of Engineering) note: by U.O. 13085/2023 dated 19.08.2023, the B.Tech Clause 12 formula was changed to Percentage = CGPA × 10; B.Tech students who graduated BEFORE that amendment used the earlier formula Percentage = (CGPA − 0.5) × 10 (CGPA 8.5 → 80%). Calicut's older CCSS-UG and some PG regulations used different schemes.
This reverses the official CGPA→% formula. A percentage on a transcript is the authoritative figure; the back-calculated CGPA is an estimate. Always confirm with your university.

Converting University of Calicut percentage back to CGPA

University of Calicut (Kerala) officially converts CGPA to percentage with % = CGPA × 10. This page inverts that formula so you can estimate the CGPA behind a known percentage — useful when a scholarship form, job portal or foreign application asks for CGPA but your marksheet only shows a percentage. Enter your percentage above and the calculator solves for the CGPA on the 10-point scale.

Worked example

The official University of Calicut formula is % = CGPA × 10. To go the other way, you rearrange it to solve for CGPA. Starting from a percentage of 85%, the formula reverses to a CGPA of about 8.5 on the 10-point scale. You can check this by running 8.5 through the forward University of Calicut CGPA to percentage calculator — it returns 85%, confirming the two directions agree.

Why this is an estimate, not an official figure

A university issues your percentage from your actual CGPA, not the other way around — so reversing the formula recovers the CGPA that would produce that percentage. It matches in almost every case, but rounding on your transcript (for example a percentage printed to one decimal place) can shift the back-calculated CGPA slightly. When both numbers appear on your grade card, always quote the official CGPA rather than this estimate.
