How the Bangladesh grading scale works

Bangladeshi universities use the UGC 4.0 letter-grade system. The overall CGPA is the credit-weighted average of grade points; A+ (80%+) is the top grade and D (2.0) is the minimum pass at most universities.

Grade scale

Grade / rangeMeaning (≈ US)
A+ (80–100)4.0
A (75–79)3.75
A- (70–74)3.5
B+ (65–69)3.25
B (60–64)3.0
C (50–59)2.25
D (40–49)2.0
F (below 40)0.0

Formula

CGPA = sum(credit x grade point) / sum(credits) on a 4.0 scale. Maps close to 1:1 with the US 4.0 GPA.

Worked example

A student with CGPA 3.5 maps to ~3.5 on the US 4.0 scale.
