How the Pakistan grading scale works
Pakistani universities follow the HEC semester system with letter grades on a 4.0 scale. The overall CGPA is the credit-weighted average of grade points; CGPA 2.0 is the minimum to graduate. Enter a course percentage to estimate the US GPA.
Grade scale
| Grade / range | Meaning (≈ US) |
|---|---|
| A (85–100) | 4.0 |
| A- (80–84) | 3.7 |
| B+ (75–79) | 3.3 |
| B (70–74) | 3.0 |
| C (58–64) | 2.0 |
| D (50–57) | 1.0 |
| F (below 50) | 0.0 |
Formula
CGPA = sum(credit x grade point) / sum(credits), already on a 4.0 scale. Because it is a 4.0 scale, the US GPA maps roughly 1:1.
Worked example
A course at 80% falls in the A- band -> 3.7 on the US 4.0 scale.
