DJSCE — Guidelines for Examination and Evaluation for UG and PG Programs (w.e.f. AY 2019-20), 29 pages, read in full. No CGPA-to-percentage conversion clause found. University of Mumbai Board of Examinations Circular (Resolution 27-08-2015) for pre-autonomous cohort.
THIS IS A COHORT-PAGE RECORD — TWO COHORTS. Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College of Engineering is an autonomous unaided engineering institute affiliated to the University of Mumbai, established 1994. Its own website states: "DJSCE is an Autonomous Institution, granted autonomy by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for a period of 10 years, starting from the A.Y. 2019-20 till 2028-29" (UGC Status List as on 27.08.2024, entry #582; current window 2024-25 to 2033-34). COHORT 1 — PRE-AUTONOMOUS (students admitted up to A.Y. 2018-19): sat University of Mumbai examinations. UoM uses a PIECEWISE formula under Board of Examinations Circular (Resolution 27-08-2015): Percentage = 7.1 × CGPI + 12 when CGPI is below 7.0, and Percentage = 7.4 × CGPI + 12 when CGPI is 7.0 or above. At CGPI 8.0: 71.2%; CGPI 8.5: 74.9%. COHORT 2 — AUTONOMOUS (students admitted from A.Y. 2019-20 onward): sit DJSCE's own examinations. THE FULL DJSCE EXAMINATION DOCUMENT (29 PAGES, w.e.f. AY 2019-20) WAS READ AND CONTAINS NO CGPA-TO-PERCENTAGE CONVERSION CLAUSE. Section V (Grading Scheme) provides an absolute grading table mapping percentage ranges to grade points (90%+ = 10 points, 80-89.99% = 9 points, etc.), but does not state the reverse conversion. Because the grading is absolute, the grade table is in principle invertible — a CGPA arises from credit-weighted grade points, where each grade point corresponds to a marks band — but because grade-band averages are unknown, no unique formula can be derived. The midpoint convention (e.g. CGPA 8.0 corresponds to mid-A range, about 75%) is an approximation that DJSCE has not published. WHAT THIS MEANS: unlike SPIT (which published '% = (CGPA − 0.75) × 10') or CRCE (same formula), DJSCE provides no published conversion despite using a structurally compatible absolute grading system. For employment and further-study applications, DJSCE graduates should request an official percentage certificate from the Controller of Examinations, or check whether the consolidated grade card (issued at end of Semester VIII) carries a percentage. Note that SPIT, one block away on the same stretch of Vile Parle, published (CGPA − 0.75) × 10; that formula is not attributable to DJSCE without primary evidence. NAAC NOTE: NAAC A grade (CGPA 3.18, October 2019, extended to December 2025). DTE code not confirmed; verify before using.
