This reverses the official CGPA→% formula. A percentage on a transcript is the authoritative figure; the back-calculated CGPA is an estimate. Always confirm with your college.

Converting Jorhat Engineering College (JEC), Jorhat percentage back to CGPA

Jorhat Engineering College (JEC), Jorhat (Assam) officially converts CGPA to percentage with % = CGPA × 10 (inherited from ASTU). This page inverts that formula so you can estimate the CGPA behind a known percentage. Enter your percentage above and the calculator solves for the CGPA on the 10-point scale.

Worked example

The official Jorhat Engineering College (JEC), Jorhat formula is % = CGPA × 10 (inherited from ASTU). Starting from a percentage of 80%, the formula reverses to a CGPA of about 8 on the 10-point scale. You can check this by running 8 through the forward Jorhat Engineering College (JEC), Jorhat CGPA to percentage calculator — it returns 80%, confirming the two directions agree.

Why this is an estimate, not an official figure

A college issues your percentage from your actual CGPA, not the other way around — so reversing the formula recovers the CGPA that would produce that percentage. When both numbers appear on your grade card, always quote the official CGPA rather than this estimate.

INHERITED from Assam Science and Technology University (registry key astu): Regulation for B.Tech Degree w.e.f. 2017-18 Regular Admission Batch, clause 8.3(iv): 'The CGPA may be converted into a percentage, if needed, using the following formula: Percentage marks = CGPA X 10'. Same rule in ASTU's FYUGP Engineering Regulation (NEP 2020, from 2024-25), clause 14.10.

JEC's homepage says it is 'affiliated to Assam Science and Technology University' and its Mandatory Disclosure 2025-26 names ASTU as affiliating university; no autonomy is claimed anywhere. JEC publishes no conversion rule of its own (its 'Regulation' page is the anti-ragging regulation; its 'SGPA to CGPA convertor' links to an external app and gives no percentage formula). ASTU's rule therefore governs. ASTU's separate CGPA-to-percentage notification is a scanned PDF not readable here; formula is from the two ASTU regulation PDFs.
