This reverses the official CGPA→% formula. A percentage on a transcript is the authoritative figure; the back-calculated CGPA is an estimate. Always confirm with your college.

Converting Jorhat Institute of Science & Technology (JIST), Jorhat percentage back to CGPA

Jorhat Institute of Science & Technology (JIST), Jorhat (Assam) officially converts CGPA to percentage with % = CGPA × 10 (inherited from ASTU; older Dibrugarh University batches also × 10). This page inverts that formula so you can estimate the CGPA behind a known percentage. Enter your percentage above and the calculator solves for the CGPA on the 10-point scale.

Worked example

The official Jorhat Institute of Science & Technology (JIST), Jorhat formula is % = CGPA × 10 (inherited from ASTU; older Dibrugarh University batches also × 10). Starting from a percentage of 80%, the formula reverses to a CGPA of about 8 on the 10-point scale. You can check this by running 8 through the forward Jorhat Institute of Science & Technology (JIST), Jorhat CGPA to percentage calculator — it returns 80%, confirming the two directions agree.

Why this is an estimate, not an official figure

A college issues your percentage from your actual CGPA, not the other way around — so reversing the formula recovers the CGPA that would produce that percentage. When both numbers appear on your grade card, always quote the official CGPA rather than this estimate.

Same rule in ASTU's B.Tech Regulation w.e.f. 2017-18, cl. 8.3(iv).

JIST confirms on its own site: 'The Institute is affiliated under Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU), Guwahati, Assam' (UGC/AICTE page) and the principal page says it is 'presently affiliated to the Assam Science and Technology University'. Before ASTU (until the 2017-18/2018-19 session) its B.Sc and B.E. programmes were under Dibrugarh University - so old DU-era graduates must use the Dibrugarh rule, not ASTU's. Not autonomous: the principal page only calls JIST 'a strong candidate for autonomy under NEP 2020'. JIST publishes no rule of its own; its notifications page reposts ASTU's 'Formula for Conversion of CGPA into Equivalent Percentage under ASTU' (dated 22-01-2023 on JIST's list).
